On Friday, March 20th, Galena Park High School is hosting their annual 8th grade Southside Night! During this event, 8th graders will get an opportunity to hang out with the high school students and participate in fun activities. Students will be fed dinner provided by GPHS. Students will be practicing music provided by the high school in preparation to perform at the Houston Dash Soccer Game on Saturday, March 21st!
Friday, March 20th
What to Wear: Any WAMS Band Shirt or Band of Gold Shirt, Jeans, and Tennis Shoes
3:56pm: Students meet in the band hall
4:15pm: Depart for Galena Park High School
4:30pm: Arrive at Galena Park High School and meet up with the Band of Gold
7:00pm: Parent Pickup at Galena Park High School
Saturday, March 21st
What to Wear: Banda de Oro Shirt (provided by GPHS), Jeans, and Tennis Shoes
12:00pm: Students meet at the front of the school (WAMS)
12:30pm: Depart for Shell Energy Stadium
1:00pm: Arrive at Shell Energy Stadium
3:00pm: Game Starts! Kickoff!
5:30pm: Depart for WAMS
6:00pm: Arrive at WAMS (Parent Pickup at WAMS)

On Thursday, March 26th, the Symphonic Band will travel to C.E. King High School to participate in the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. After the performance, students will be fed a Chick-Fil-A lunch at WAMS.
Uniform: Concert Black
Girls: Black dress pants or black dress skirt that touches your ankles with a black dress top. Shoes must be black dress flats.
Boys: Black dress slacks with a black belt and a black tucked-in long sleeve button up dress shirt. Shoes must be black dress shoes with long black socks.
Itinerary
Arrive to school dressed in concert black uniform. Eat breakfast and report to the MPR for advisory. Students will miss advisory, 1st period, 2nd period, and 3rd period. Students will report to 4th period as normal.
8:15am - Meet in the MPR and Load Equipment
9:00am - Depart for C.E. King High School
9:30am - Arrive at C.E. King High School
10:00am - Warmup
10:30am - Stage (This is our performance time)
11:00am - Sightread
11:30am - Load buses
12:00pm - Depart for WAMS
12:30pm - Arrive at WAMS and unload
12:45pm - Chick-Fil-A Lunch at WAMS
Remain in the MPR till the dismissal to 4th period

It's FINALLY here! The Woodland Acres Middle School Band is participating in the Van Wyk Confections Famous Fortune Cookie fundraising program. This is a great opportunity for your child to raise money for the WAMS Band Program!
After completing and returning this form, your child will receive (one) box of 60 Chocolate-Covered Fortune Cookies the week of April 1st 2026. Each fortune cookie will be sold for $1.00. The band will earn 45% profit for every box sold! The band will use this money to purchase new music equipment! Any excess profit earned will be used to benefit all band students within the WAMS Band program.
Each student will be responsible for their box of fortune cookies and/or money generated from the fundraiser. Students may receive an additional box only after money has been submitted, or by bringing a note from a parent requesting an amount of boxes. All money and unsold fortune cookies must be turned into Mrs. Bordelon by Thursday, April 23rd or Friday, April 24th.
