8th Grade Band Students
On Thursday, November 6th, Galena Park High School is hosting their annual Fall 8th Grade
Night! During this event, 8th graders will get an opportunity to see what a high school marching
band is like and attend a GPHS football game. Students will be fed dinner. Students will NOT be
visiting the concession stands during the event, all food and drinks will be provided by the
GPHS Band.
What to Wear: This year's WAMS Band Shirt (updated from form) , Blue Jeans, and Tennis Shoes
When: Thursday, November 6th
3:56pm - Students meet in the band hall
4:00pm - Mini rehearsal and pizza dinner in the band hall
5:00pm - Load instruments on bus
5:15pm - Depart for GPISD Stadium
*Approximately 9:15pm - Depart for WAMS
*Approximately 9:30pm - Dismissal at WAMS
7th/8th Grade Band Students
On Monday, November 10th, the 7th/8th graders of Woodland Acres Middle School Band will
travel to Jones Hall to watch the Houston Symphony perform. This is a great opportunity for our students
to witness live, professional musicians! Students will be required to wear “Sunday Best Dress” (i.e. like something worn to an interview) to school. After the performance, we will come back to WAMS and resume classes as normal.
What to Wear: "Sunday Best Dress" (i.e. like something worn to an interview)
When: Monday, November 10th
Arrive at school, dressed in “Sunday Best Dress” and eat breakfast as normal
8:15am - Report to the MPR for advisory
8:45am - Load the buses and Depart for Jones Hall
9:15am - Arrive at Jones Hall
9:40am - Concert begins
10:50am - Depart for WAMS and continue the day as normal
