3:56pm - Students meet in the band hall

4:30pm - Depart for Galena Park High School

4:45pm - Arrive at Galena Park High School

5:00pm - Meet up with GPHS Band of Gold

*Approximately 8:00pm - Depart for WAMS

*Approximately 8:30pm - Dismissal at WAMS

Uniform: Professional/Dressy Casual Attire (something you would wear to an interview, a nice church event, or a nice dinner gathering--no jeans, joggers, flip flops, or crocs). Students may choose to wear their “Concert Black”.

Time:  Students will be assigned an individual time slot between 8:55am and 1:10pm.

Wind Ensemble Members will also be assigned an "ensemble" time for their group performance

This is a required performance for all WAMS 7th/8th grade band members and worth a major grade.  Students who do not attend will be required to perform their solo during their band class for partial credit.

Students need to arrive at WAMS at least 20 minutes prior to their assigned solo time.  This will allow students to find the judging location and warm up/prepare before they perform.  The performance will take approximately 5 minutes.  After students perform, they are free to leave; Wind Ensemble Members will be free to leave once they have performed both their solo and ensembles.  If you know your student will need special accommodations for time slot requests, please let Mrs. Bordelon know.

Beginner Band Schedule:

9:30 - Students called down to the MPR with instrument and band binder

10:00 - Load equipment bus with tubas, euphs, and percussion equipment

10:15 - Depart for GPHS

10:30: Arrive at GPHS and Unload Cases in Band Hall

11:00: Warmup on Stage

11:30: Stage Performance & Clinic

11:50: Sight-Reading & Clinic

12:00: Report back to Band B to put instruments away

12:15: Load buses

12:30: Depart for WAMS

12:45: Arrive at WAMS, Unload, Report to MPR

1:13-1:43: Eat lunch in cafeteria for filler lunch

Report back to MPR

2:16: Students dismissed to 8th period

5:15pm - WAMS Beginner Band meets, dressed in this year's WAMS Band Shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes, on stage at Galena Park High School Auditorium for warm-up.

6:00pm - WAMS Beginner Band performs in the Galena Park High School Auditorium.

Uniform: Concert Black

• Girls: Black dress pants or black dress skirt that touches your ankles with a black dress top. Shoes must be black dress flats.

• Boys: Black dress slacks with a black belt and a black tucked-in long sleeve button up dress shirt. Shoes must be black dress shoes with long black socks.

6:30pm - WAMS Band meets, dressed in "Concert Black" attire, in the band hall at Galena Park High School.

7:00pm - WAMS Band performs in the Galena Park High School Auditorium. (Order of Performance: Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble)
